The chart opens with a title, a subtitle and a large period label such as 2021 in the top right. Horizontal bars for each item line up in rank order, each with its value at the end. As the periods advance, the bars grow and shrink, swap places when one overtakes another, and the axis rescales to fit the largest value. The bar in first place takes the accent color, red by default, on a warm off-white background.

Enter your periods and the series values for each item, then pick how many bars to show and how long each period lasts. Add a prefix or suffix such as $ or M, set the number of decimal places, and choose the leader color. It works well for market share over time, subscriber counts, rankings by year and any data story where the order changes.
